The University of Pristina-Kosovska Mitrovica was founded on 1970 in Pristina, since 1999 University has been dislocated and
operates in Kosovska Mitrovica. The University has approximately 10 000 full-time students and more then 1000 employees. The
University has the status of a state university, as a comprehensive/multidisciplinary university, and comprises ten (10)
Faculties. The main aim of the University of Pristina- Kosovska Mitrovica is to widen its academic knowledge into the region of
Kosovo and Metohija, next to that special attention is addessed to the third role of University. Dissemination of academic
knowledge and results of research to the community University perform trough creating partnerships among various organisations –
such as national or local authorities, municipalities, NGOs, private foundations, formal and informal education institutions.
The UPKM is the project coordinator who is establishing internal quality assurance procedures. Although the University is the
coordinator of this development, the project's partners will be operating in significant support, and will also be able to learn
from the new project towards their own quality enhancements. A full appraisal of current quality procedures and mechanisms will
precede the gradual introduction of quality assurance across the University's ten faculties. The role of the UPKM will be
implement internal quality procedures and learn about internal quality processes from partners, to share with them some newer
facets of practice vis-a-vis their own practices, and the practices of other universities in Europe who are implementing EHEA
standards and creative and diverse means of assessing quality in institutions of higher education. A major role for UPKM is to
train colleagues (academic and non-academic) in the processes of internal quality assurance.
